Price and booking

How much does skip hire cost?

R900 for a 2m³ mini skip, all-in: delivery, collection, disposal and 3 days on site.

How do I book a skip?

WhatsApp or call 064 582 1436 with your suburb, street address, the spot for the skip, the load and the week you need it.

Can I get a skip the same day?

No. Skips are booked for the same week, without same-day promises.

Do you work on weekends?

Yes, on Saturday mornings: bookings are answered Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 and Saturday 08:00–13:00. Sundays and public holidays are closed.

Placement and permits

Do I need a permit for a skip?

No, not on your own driveway, yard or paving. A skip on a public road, pavement or verge needs the prior written permission of the City of Cape Town: a Temporary Use (of the road reserve) application at the Roads Infrastructure Management district office, with an R712 admin fee for 2026/27.

Where should the skip go?

On level, firm ground the truck can reach: a driveway, yard or paved area with a clear approach and nothing low overhead such as branches or cables.

Can the skip block the pavement?

No. Even with the City's permission, a skip must leave the sidewalk clear for pedestrians.

What goes in

What can go in a skip?

Builders rubble, tiles, plaster, garden refuse, branches, old furniture, carpet, boxes and general household junk. Mixed loads are fine.

What cannot go in a skip?

The skip can't take asbestos (a registered asbestos contractor removes it), liquids, paint, solvents, oil and chemicals, gas cylinders, tyres, batteries, medical waste and e-waste.

Do you take asbestos?

No. A registered asbestos contractor removes asbestos, and it never goes in a general skip.

Size, weight and collection

How big is the mini skip?

2m³, which is 2,000 litres or roughly two to three bakkie loads.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, in practice: dense loads such as soil and concrete get heavy before the skip looks full. Fill to the rim and no higher, and check on WhatsApp first when the load is mostly soil or solid concrete.

How long can I keep the skip?

3 days are included, and longer hire is available on request when you book.

What happens when a skip is overfilled?

It gets levelled to the rim before collection, because an overfilled skip can't be lifted and carried safely.
